Perthshire Auction Rooms was established in 2003 by husband and wife team Jim and Shona McLaren in the small picturesque market town of Crieff in the beautiful Strathearn Valley in Perthshire. Crieff has a long and illustrious history of markets and auctions dating back to the Medieval cattle trysts, with the drovers coming from far and wide to trade their cattle, swap stories and songs. There has always been auction houses in Crieff and with the retirement of the local long established Auction House in 2000 Shona and Jim decided that the time had come to re-establish this long and much missed tradition.
Perthshire Auction rooms prides itself on the honest, efficient and professional reputation that it has worked long and hard to achieve and this is shown in the rapid rise to success over the past year. We currently hold fortnightly Antique and General Sales, selling everything from the humblest teapot to the grandest of Grandfather Clocks interspersed with specialised sales including Fine China & Porcelain, Whisky & Wine, Fine Antiques, Agricultural Machinery & Small Tools and Off Site Retiral and Liquidation Sales.
We are always ready to take on new challenges and are planning some other interesting specialist sales in the future!
The Auction House was started with Shona and Jim in 2003 with help from family and friends but we were very quickly joined by Douglas & John who are both full time employees and Anneke and Susan who are part time. We also have a fabulous network of independant staff including Jim McColl, a very well established and trusted Auctioneer and Valuer and Fergus Gray our IT specialist.
It is the high level of commitment and dedication from our staff that makes us one of the most popular Auction Houses in Central Scotland
Our vendors and buyers alike enjoy the real family atmosphere created in the Auction House and this is bourne out by the 6000 strong database of regular private buyers, dealers and vendors from all parts of the United Kingdom and even as far afield as America! We pride ourselves on our integrity, honesty and the more fun aspects of our Auctions, we encourage normal everyday people to come and enjoy the previously priveleged world of auction houses!
We can offer our customers many services including a free valuation service, providing the items are offered for auction through us, on the odd item that you may have for auction through to full house clearances. To alleviate some of the strain after losing a loved one we can offer a full and comprehensive probate service from valuation to clearing and selling the items from a property either privately or in conjuction with a solicitor.
We have our own trusty van which can collect and deliver items from anywhere in Scotland at very competitive prices. Our staff are trained fully in the handling and transportation of items and are at all times friendly, respectful and courteous.
